With about 30% of the contributions from outside Europe, the conference can be considered a worldwide forum of the rheological community. Overall, there are about 600 participants and more than 500 accepted abstracts (oral and poster) with authors coming from 50 countries, a sign of the growing scientific interest in rheology. The conference program features 12 parallel sessions spanning diverse, highly relevant rheological topics listed in the following page, with 12 keynote lectures, and 3 plenary presentations.

The SIR meetings are organized biannually all around Italy and provide an excellent platform for networking with old and new colleagues, including the newcomers to the field, in the same spirit of the AERCs. 3 Welcome to AERC 2018 in Sorrento We welcome you to the joint 12 th Annual European Rheology Conference (AERC) and XV Italian Society of Rheology (SIR) Conference in Sorrento (Napoli), Italy, April The joint meeting is addressed to rheologists of all scientific backgrounds, from academy to industry and government research centres, aiming at sharing ideas in a friendly, informal atmosphere.
